It can hold much more detail of meta data, for examples a lot of different sports and is it much smaller in storage and processing speed. FIT is a Garmin file format that pretty much every platform I have come across can import. The conversion to FIT is done almost lossless, except the zones distribution, which isn't convertible in a meaningful way to the FIT context.įrom a technical stand point Garmin FIT is preferable in many ways over TCX or even GPX. It currently has a single export to Strava (UPDATE: Since version 1.0.9 (8) you can now directly export to TrainingPeaks, and SportTracks), but you can also export FIT files to iCloud or email, which you can then import into other platforms. The by Polar exported JSON is actually very detailed and no information is missing by the export as far as I can tell. So with the converter you can easily add your older Polar workouts to your favorite platform like Strava, TrainingPeaks, Runalyze, etc. Most of the modern training platforms are accepting. I have written a Polar JSON to Garmin FIT converter tool to convert all my Polar training history from the Polar Flow export into an widely used an state-of-the-art (more or less, hehe) format. It's what allowed me to convert 5 years of Polar.
